Hello, I'm Justin Less, founder of Renew and Redo Design.
I was born and raised in Dubuque, Iowa, and have always appreciated the creativity, practicality, hard work, and sense of community that come with my Midwestern roots. After spending 16 years in Minneapolis, my family and I relocated to the Madison area in 2021 to be closer to family and friends. We now call Oregon, Wisconsin home.
For more than 20 years, I have worked as a licensed psychotherapist, and since 2012 I have owned and operated a successful private practice. While therapy and design may seem like very different fields, I've found that many of the most important skills are the same: listening carefully, understanding what matters to someone, communicating clearly, solving problems, and earning trust.
My work has also taught me how much our surroundings can influence our mood, stress level, productivity, and overall well-being. I believe a home should not only look good—it should make everyday life easier and more enjoyable.
That belief, combined with my lifelong interests in design, gardening, organization, landscaping, woodworking, and home improvement, inspired me to create Renew and Redo Design.
Practical Design. Thoughtful Solutions. Hands-On Help.
My philosophy is simple: great design should be practical, approachable, and affordable. You don't necessarily need a major renovation or an entirely new room of furniture to transform your home. Often, some of the best results come from recognizing the potential in what you already have and making thoughtful changes that have a big impact.
One of the things that makes Renew and Redo different is that I don't simply give you a list of recommendations and walk away. Whenever possible, I can take a project from the initial idea through implementation and completion. That means fewer people to coordinate, clearer communication, and often a more affordable and efficient process.
Whether you're refreshing a room, improving your landscaping, organizing and decluttering, preparing a home for sale, downsizing, or refinishing furniture, my goal is to make the process straightforward and enjoyable. When specialized expertise is needed, I can also work with trusted professionals who share my commitment to quality and reliability.
A Personal Approach to Your Home
Inviting someone into your home requires trust. I approach every project with respect, curiosity, and a genuine desire to understand what you want rather than imposing my own personal style.
This is especially important when helping clients organize, declutter, downsize, or prepare a longtime home for sale. These transitions can involve years of memories and emotion. My background as a therapist gives me a unique appreciation for approaching these projects with patience, sensitivity, and respect.
I also have a lifelong passion for gardening and landscaping. From refreshing an overgrown planting bed and improving curb appeal to creating a more inviting outdoor space, I enjoy helping homeowners make the outside of their homes feel just as intentional and welcoming as the inside.
A Little About Me
When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband of 22 years and our son. We enjoy hiking, biking, swimming, pickleball and tennis, spending time with friends and family, and exploring the outdoors with our miniature poodle. I also enjoy woodworking, furniture refinishing, gardening, flea markets, music, and continually learning new skills.
Ultimately, Renew and Redo is about helping you see the possibilities in the home you already have—and then helping turn those possibilities into reality.
I would love the opportunity to learn about your home, your goals, and the projects you've been putting off.
