Hello, I'm Justin Less, founder of Renew and Redo Design.
I was born and raised in Dubuque, Iowa, and have always appreciated the creativity, practicality, and strong sense of community that come with Midwestern values. After spending 16 years in Minneapolis, my family and I relocated to Madison in 2021 to be closer to family and friends and to enjoy everything this wonderful community has to offer.
For more than 20 years, I have worked as a licensed psychotherapist, and since 2012 I have owned and operated a successful private practice. Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of helping people create positive change in their lives. One lesson I've learned time and again is that our surroundings matter. The spaces we live in influence our mood, relationships, productivity, and overall well-being.
That belief inspired me to launch Renew and Redo Design. I wanted to combine my passion for design, organization, landscaping, and home improvement with my desire to help people create environments that support the lives they want to live.
My design philosophy is simple: great design should be practical, approachable, and affordable. I enjoy helping clients discover the potential that already exists within their homes, often incorporating furniture, décor, and landscaping elements they already own. Rather than starting from scratch, I focus on enhancing a home's natural strengths and creating spaces that feel cohesive, functional, and uniquely personal.
One of the things clients appreciate most is that I don't simply provide recommendations and walk away. Many projects can be completed directly by me, creating a more streamlined and cost-effective experience. When specialized expertise is needed, I work with trusted contractors who share my commitment to quality workmanship, professionalism, and reliability.
I also have a lifelong passion for gardening and landscaping. Whether refreshing a planting bed, updating curb appeal, or reimagining an outdoor living space, I enjoy helping homeowners create landscapes that complement and extend the beauty of their homes.
When I'm not working, you'll find me spending time with my husband of 22 years and our son, who brings tremendous joy and energy to our lives. As a family, we enjoy hiking, swimming, visiting local parks, spending time with friends and family, and exploring the outdoors with our miniature poodle. I also enjoy singing, hosting gatherings, woodworking, live music, refinishing furniture, gardening, flea markets, reading, and continually learning new skills.
I look forward to helping you create a home and landscape that you truly enjoy coming home to.
